Invisalign: what is that?
Invisalign is a relatively new way to straighten your teeth. It’s a series of clear aligners that you can wear over your teeth for 22 hours a day. The aligners will be custom-made to fit your teeth, and they will gradually move your teeth into the desired positions. Invisalign is a great option for people who want to improve the appearance of their teeth without having to wear traditional braces. The aligners are virtually invisible, so you can wear them without feeling self-conscious. And because they’re removable, you can eat, drink, and brush your teeth as usual.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months on average to conclude; however, the results are worth the wait! The great thing about Invisalign is that you can wear the aligners, and nobody should realise that you have anything in your mouth, so you can continue with your life as usual while getting yourself a beautiful smile.
Will Invisalign hurt?
It’s important to be prepared for some discomfort during your treatment. However, this is typically when you wear a new aligner. You will be required to change your aligners every couple of weeks, and each one will apply a different amount of pressure to push the teeth into the desired positions. This can take a day or so to get used to; however, Invisalign maximises your comfort as the aligners are made bespoke for your mouth using iTero technology. The aligners are also made of smooth plastic, so they shouldn’t irritate the inside of your mouth, either.
Getting your Invisalign smile!
One of the great things about an Invisalign smile is the fact that you can remove the aligners for a couple of hours a day, including before you eat, drink or clean your teeth and gums. This means that you don’t need to change your diet and shouldn’t develop any oral hygiene issues as long as you keep brushing twice daily and flossing regularly. It’s important to remember that it will take time for your teeth to move, so don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately.
